Many of you who have been around our baseball community knew Jay Benkert, and were touched by his warm personality. May he rest in peace and we will keep his family and friends in our hearts and minds, especially this upcoming season.

Jay was an incredibly fun loving person with a “light up the room” type spirit. A former collegiate baseball player and all around athlete. There is no sport Jay would try and NOT succeed at.

He was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it. He was not a rich man, but his wealth in happiness and friendships went unmatched! I remember him on several occasions, handing out $100 dollar bills to kids just to see the happiness on their faces. Even when his friends told him to stop, because we thought it was a poor financial decision, he said, “who cares, it’s just money!”

Please help us raise funds for Jay’s family, funeral costs, and anything else associated. It’s the least we can all do for such a great person with an even better soul. Give what you can and let’s make sure there is no additional burden to Jay’s family.

We Love you, Jay! Gone but not forgotten.
